Posted on Mon, 18 Jan 2016
Question: Hi,
I used to have a discharge that is very solid and looks like cottage cheese starting 1week before my periods. It sometimes is very large and solid ang used to block my urine discharge. But it comes from my vagina.I have this type of discharge regularly. I have already consulted a doctor and have prescribed "canditral" to be taken orally four pills first month and two pills the next month and next i.e, for 3months. But the discharge have not stopped. I have read some internet sources and found it likely to be yeast infection. What will i do?

Brief Answer:
Yes,it is most likely due to fungal or yeast infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Thanks for trusting hcm about your health care.
I have gone through your history and understand your concerns.
Your symptoms are suggested of fungal infection and you already on antifungal treatment.
As you are not responding to antifungal treatment I would like to ask a few questions from you.
Are you diabetic?
Taking oral contraceptive pills?
Married or sexually active?
For how long it is there?
Any other symptoms other than discharge?
Hope to hear from you soon.
Good luck.

I do not have diabetes. No oral pills. Unmarried. It is there two years before. But not regularly. This year it is there around 7 months. There is fluid discharge too which causes itching and inflammation die to which sometimes there is swelling but it goes away by applying powder and gels the doctors prescribed.I have consulted 4 doctors(gynae). Some prescribed "insert into vagina tablets". It is not working. They all ask same questions.

Brief Answer:
It could be due persistent fungal infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
I can understand your situation but it is better if you had persistent fungal infection even you are taking treatmen, you must go for wet KOH preparation to rule out fungal infection.
These precautions are helpful in your case and in your case it could be due to hormonal changes.
-Maintain vaginal hygiene and XXXXXXX the area dry and clean.
-Avoid douche and perfume soap and detergent.
-Wear loose fitting cotton undergarments.
-Avoid sugary food in your diet.
-Take curd and probiotics.
Have you ever try diflucan( antifungal)?
Hope found useful.
Good luck.
Regards
