What Causes The Left Side Of Head To Fall Asleep?

default
Posted on Fri, 11 Mar 2016
Question: Hi,

Today I woke up in the morning and the area around my ear on the left side of my head was asleep. It was left side of head but not the entire left side. Along with both hands. When I sat upright it went away within a few minutes . It was not numbness. It was the same thing as hands or legs falling asleep. I don't think my head has fell asleep before so I was a little concerned about this. Also. I usually sleep on one side and arms and hands fall asleep regularly for me and they usually get better once I wake up within a few minutes. I'm not sure if that had something to do with it. I noticed it when I woke up but then when I sat upright it went away I would say in about 3 minutes.

Brief Answer:
Transient impairment of blood supply.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for the queries here at HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Since it was only one isolated episode of a part of the head skin that felt like asleep, you shouldn't worry about.

It was probably an isolated impairment of that area blood supply due to sleeping position that caused your feeling.

Approximately the same things with the hands symptoms, usually there is a drop in the blood pressure when lying and sleeping, and most peripheral ( distal ) body parts such hands and feet are more prone to these changes resulting in symptoms such numbness or falling asleep.

So, in conclusion, in my opinion, you shouldn't worry about these issues.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

I remain at your disposal for further questions and clarifications.

Greetings.
