Brief Answer:
May be retrograde ejaculation

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

This may be due to retrograde ejaculation. This refers to a situation where the ejaculate goes backwards into the bladder instead of exiting via the penis.

The main problem/complication would be issues with conceiving, other than this there are no complications.
The ejaculate leaves the body via the urine.

There are different causes such as:

(1)side effect of medication e.g: medication for enlarged prostate
(2)previous surgery on the prostate
(3)spinal cord injury or other nerve injury

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask any other questions.

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
There are some meds that can help

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

It is not usually associated with cholesterol meds though everyone reacts differently to medication so that possible reaction would need to be explored.

If it is related to these meds then it would stop when discontinued. It is commonly related to Flomax and similar meds and stops if the medication is stopped.

Retrograde ejaculation doesn't cause harm and interferes only with conception but if it is bothersome there are some meds that your doctor can suggest that may help e.g: Imipramine, Midodrine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you.

please explain those meds. What do they do? Is this condition typical?

Brief Answer:
They increase muscle tone of the bladder

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

It is common as men get older because the conditions that are associated with it tend to occur in older persons eg diabetes, prostate issues.

Imipramine and Midodrine are two of the meds that can be used but there are others if these are not effective,
Eg some antihistamines such as Chlorpheniramine or decongestants

All of these meds essentially work by improving or increasing muscle tone in the bladder (making it contract or tighten) to prevent or reduce the semen from entering there.

Hope I have answered your query.

Thank you.
