What Causes The Feeling Of A Lump In The Throat?

default
Posted on Thu, 7 Sep 2017
Question: I have had what feels like a lump in my throat for months. Almost feels like a mouth ulcer that is almost healed. Mild discomfort. Some days better than others but doesn't go away. It's at the bottom of my throat by collar bone behind that soft spot. Also discomfort from top of my stomach up through throat. I have battled acid reflux for years. I also have bad allergies. Not sure if that is contributing. I take medicine for both. I have an an appointment with a GI in a couple of weeks but am worried it is something serious.

Brief Answer:
It could be Acid peptic disease.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description, the symptoms could be due to Acid peptic disease.
I prefer newer Proton pump inhibitors like Rabeprazole 20mg/Esmoprazole 40mg twice daily along with Domperidone twice daily to my patients with similar complaints.
I don't think in terms of cancer.Get an Upper GI endoscopy and confirm the exact diagnosis.
Nothing to worry.
Hope I answered your query.
If you come back after Gastroenterologist consultation,I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
