Brief Answer:
No anxiety, for confirmation clarify your question

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

What I understand from your question is, "you feel blank mind while driving but you reach the place excatly where you actually want to go".

If it is right, I think it is normal phenomenon. When you drive on same route daily, your subconscious mind prepares a circuit for that route and you do not have to think while driving actively means your conscious mind can think other things and your car driven by your subconscious mind automatically. After reaching to destination you might feel that you were not aware about the driving route and how you reach. This is normal.

If I understood your question wrong ,please clarify your question with example and details.

Waiting for your reply to help you further.

Dr.Chintan Solanki.

Yes I suffer from anxiety and before I go I over think where I'm going then for a few seconds I get blank mind. Or I can be driving and all of a sudden I question where I'm at and get confused for a few seconds I have done it in the middle of the night I have gotten up to use the restroom and feel like I don't know where it is but have no problems getting to it

I worry it's a brain tumor

Brief Answer:
it is anticipation anxiety, not brain tumour

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for info.

I read your problem in detail. What you are suffering from is called, ‘thought block’.
When it is the only symptom without any other symptom, it is likely due to some stress in life. Normally it can happen with anyone who are in stress due to any reason. That stress can be social, economic, and occupational or relationship. It does not require any specific treatment, it goes away as stressful situation becomes normal.

However if this thought block is so frequent and person feels disturbed due to that , evaluation to be done for any psychiatric illness. For that detail history and mental status examination are required by a psychiatrist. Common psychiatric problems in which thought block occurs are depression, schizophrenia, depersonalization disorder and anxiety disorders.

It can occur in neurological (brain pathology) conditions also but, it is associated with other symptoms like vertigo, double vision, headache, blurring of vision, forgetfulness memory disturbance etc in that case. And person also may have high blood pressure and hyperlipidemia/high cholesterol also.

Just try to understand what I have narrated and you can judge from this information what is going on with you.

In my opinion it is just anticipatory anxiety, not brain tumour at all. You can consult psychiatrist for evaluation and can be helped with psychotherapy and/or anti-anxiety medicines.

Hope I have answered your query. If still any query is there, feel free to ask.

Thank you I catch myself sometimes driving and I'll be fine and other times I'll think about it and it happens I'm also a hypochondriac and worry about health all day everyday

Also have had it on and off for 2 years

Is it something to worry about
doctor
Answered by Dr. Chintan Solanki (6 hours later)
Brief Answer:
From your history I can say nothing to worry about.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for info.

You mentioned that it is on and off since two years and in these two years you have not suffered at all with associated symptoms I have mentioned. It suggests it is purely your anxiety. Yes continuous concern/anxiety regarding health can lead to hypochondriasis

I am sure you can be helped with a consultation with psychiatrist. If during examination doctor finds something neurological, he will advise MRI brain for sure to rule out any problem. And if needed he will refer you to neurologist. So do not think much about your problem of thinking and consult doctor.

I don’t think so that there is anything to worry about.

Hope I have answered your query. If something else ,I will be happy to answer.

Dr.Chintan Solanki.

Brief Answer:
it is concern about normal occurance

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

If it comes and go, it is not neurological problem.if something neurological is there, it should be persistent almost as well as worsen in severity.

Whatever happening with you is almost normal thought block. And the problem is concern about this thing in your mind. This concern creates anxiety and which again causes thought block. In this way it is cyclic process and is not stopping. You have to break at some point in this cycle with help of psychiatrist through proper counselling and psychotherapy.psychotherapy. Hope you got clear idea now what is your problem.

Again I would like to say consult psychiatrist and get rid of the problem.

Regards and all the best,

Brief Answer:
Probably all reports would be normal

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for info.

As I mentioned , it was just your excess concern, there will be no physical finding. It is good that blood reports were normal. Even if reports will be done in future, they would be normal.

So please go to psychiatrist and take help of counseling.

Brief Answer:
this can happen in deep sleep with anxiety

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for one more query.
Sorry for delayed reply.

Whatever is happening to you in sleep can occur in person with anxiety.Due to constant concern and thinking in subconscious mind , during stage of deep sleep person gets awakes and feels disoriented. And after regaining consciousnesses after a while person becomes normal and again goes to sleep.

This problem also will be cured if your basic problem of anxiety is treated.

Hope I have answered your query, feel free to discuss more.
