Question: HELLO -
MY NAME IS XXXXXXX XXXX. I AM 75 YEARS OLD AND UNTIL ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO I BELIEVE I WAS IN FAIRLY TOLERABLY GOOD HEALTH. ABOUT THIS PAST APRIL I BEGAN TO DEVELSYMPTOMS THAT SEEMED TO ME TO BE DEFINED AS VERTIGO. EVERY DAY SINCE SINCE THEN THE SYMPTOMS INCREASED UNTIL BY TODAY I REALLY CANNOT STAND OR MOVE WITHOUT TERRIBLE DIZZINESS.
I LIVE IN A "SENIOR FACILITY" WHERE I DO NOT HAVE TO DO MUCH FOR MYSELF WHEN I AM NOT FEELING WELL.
SIX YEARS AGO I HAD A BRAIN LYMPHOMA (CURED FOR THESE PAST 6 YEARS) HOWEVER ABOUT 6 MONTHS LATER 9 CANCER CELLS WERE DISCOVERED IN THE BACK OF MY RIGHT EYE THIS HAS BEEN WATCHED CAREFULLY BY A UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE RETINAL SPECIALIST. THE LAST TWO WEEKS SEEM TO HAVE BROUGHT ALMOST A NEW PROBLEM ALMOST EVERY DAY. NOTHING HAS SEEMED TO LESSEN MY DISCOMFORT EXCEPT A 5MG. VALIUM FOLLOWED BY A 2 HOUR NAP. I WOULD BE HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE, AND ESPECIALY TO KNOW OF ANY SUGGESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE.

THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE I AM

SINCERELY,

Brief Answer:
About your symptoms.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Ms. XXXX,

I am sorry you are having vertigo. I have experienced this myself in the past so I know how much of a problem it can be.

Given your past history of brain lymphoma, I think the appropriate thing to do right now would be to have a repeat CT or MRI of your brain. It's possible what you have may be something that is fairly common called BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo), but with your history, it is important to rule out other causes before chalking it up to common vertigo.

Did you have radiation as part of the treatment for the brain lymphoma?
Have any of your doctors considered a brain MRI or CT?
Have you been in touch about your current symptoms with the Univ. of Tennessee retinal specialist?
