Question: I took a B12 5000 mcg under my tongue and now find my tongue as swelled on one side and also my throat on one side. I rinsed my mouth out with water and have now taken 1/2 of a benedril alergy tablet.

Brief Answer:
Swelling of tongue and throat can be serious.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

I am concerned that your tongue and throat are swollen. This type of swelling is a serious type of reaction and most likely an allergic reaction as you suspected.

Taking a Benadryl is a good idea, but I think you may need more than that, and also should be monitored to make sure the allergic reaction does not get worse, such as causing airway obstruction.

I advise that you go in to either an urgent care center if there is one open near you, and if not, the ER. There they will likely give you an injection of antihistamine and either an injection of corticosteroid, and/or a prescription for more of it to take home.

I hope this information helps and that you are better soon.
