Question: Hi i have two bumps behind my ear im wondering if they are swollen lymph nodes. One is slightly painful to touch. Are swollen lymph nodes painful and how to tell between a swollen lymph node and pimple?

I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
You may have either swollen lymphnode or may be pimple.
I have gone through your image also. It is difficult to differentiate from image.

But one thing is sure. It is not a serious looking.

It can be enlarged lymphnode due to reactive hyperplasia due to some infection. It leads to painful lymphnode.
You should just take a course of antibiotics.

It will disappear mostly.

If it does not respond to treatment then biopsy diagnosis is advisable.
Don't worry. Just be relaxed. Give me follow up.

Ohh i see. Lastly, how can i tell if a swollen lymph node is caused by std? Will there be other symptoms?

Generally sexually transmitted infection does not affect the lymphnode behind ear. It commonly affect inguinal lymphnode. It has other symptoms like fever, discharge, ulcer on private part etc. History of sexually activity is also important.

But in your case it doesn't looks like STD.
