Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I carefully passed through your question and would explain that it is important performing a comprehensive differential diagnosis between different causes that may lead to fluid retention:

- heart failure
- kidney disorder
- liver disorder
- pregnazone intake (all steroids can lead to increased fluid retention)
- a venous insufficiency (although less probable, because of bilateral edema).

I would recommend with your attending physician as soon as possible for a careful physical exam and some tests:

-a cardiac ultrasound
-a chest X ray study
-complete blood count
-kidney and liver function tests
-blood osmolarity
-blood electrolytes
-blood fasting glucose
-urine analysis
-an abdominal ultrasound for the kidney and liver

If all the above tests result normal, a Doppler ultrasound of the leg vessels should be done.

Hope to have been helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
