What Causes Swelling On The Fingers And Palm Of The Hands?

default
Posted on Thu, 16 Feb 2017
Question: Hi, every now and then parts of my hands, either my fingers or parts of my palm, will swell until they feel like they are bursting, the affected spot will red/ pinkish and really itchy and very sensitive to touch, I can feel the slightest air movement on the spot. Generally speaking the discomfort will start on one spot on my hand then the swelling will go down thee only to 'move' to a different spot on my hand.

I first had this a few years ago when i had what looked like a small spider bite on the inside of one of my wrists. The area was swollen, red, itchy and sensitive fo a few days and then it went away. A day or so after this a section of my hand started to swell, and then it went down only to be followed by another section of my hand. It isn't there all the time, only once every few months or so, but when it is it is really uncomfortable.

heat seems to help but painkillers don't

Brief Answer:
I would like you to try a course of Omeprazole and Fexofenadine daily

Detailed Answer:
Hi welcome to HealthcareMagic,
Can you send me a picture?
It sounds to me like an allergy of some sort.
Sometimes something we eat has this effect and it can last for a long time. Food allergy can set off a histaminic reaction in the body.
It can also be due to other allergies.
I would like you to try a course of Omeprazole and Fexofenadine daily for a month.
Also keep a note of any food item that seems to set off the reaction.
A good acid suppressant and anti allergic for a period of time may rid you of the problem.
If it does not work, allergy and food intolerance testing can be done.
Please revert back.
Regards
