What Causes Swelling On Collarbone While Taking Levaquin For UTI?
Question: While taking levaquin for a urinary tract infection, I developed a soft swelling above my left collarbone.
Brief Answer:
This is probably a swollen lymph node!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this welling that you have reported. The most common cause of swelling in the context of an infection is a lymph node. This occurs because lymph nodes are in charge of containing an infection. In order to do this, they generally increase in size. This would get resolved as the days passes on. There is no need for any specific treatment options for this.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

I have had the swelling for a month. I don't feel a lump. It's just a swollen area. Would that still be a swollen lymph node? Would it last this long without clearing up?
Brief Answer:
If it is not a lump, then it is less likely to be a llymppph node!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Can you please provide and image of this swelling if it is visible? I will really like to review it and provide more insights. If it does not feel like a lump then it is less likely to represent a lymph gland. If this persist or increases in size, I will suggest that we get it examined by a physician.
Let me hear from you on this.

It's hard to see in a picture. When I recline, it can't even be felt. Could it at all be related to my rheumatoid arthritis? Could it be a lypoma? I also read about Signal nodes which are above the left collarbone. Are those palpable? Because I can not feel anything hard. I have inserted a picture. thank you for your time!
Brief Answer:
I can't see anything on this picture right now!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I will suggest we monitor this swelling and obtain more information before concluding. It is unlikely to be a lipoma as that is not a common site for lipoma. Also, the acute nature of this is not consistent with a lipoma. Unlikely to be explained by your rheumatoid arthritis. At this time, we simply lack so much clues as to what this is. I wills recommend we gain time and gather more information through monitoring at this phase.
I hope this sounds a plan. Let me know what you think.

Thank you. I will let you know what I find out. If I were feeling sick or something, I would be a bit more concerned but I feel okay so it's rather puzzling!
Brief Answer:
I know.....
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Keep it real and cool. We would be reassured, at least that there is nothing concerning at this time.
