Brief Answer:
different possible causes

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Swelling and pain of one lower limb can be due to different possible causes such as: (1) trauma to the limb, this would involve soft tissue (muscles or ligaments) or bone
(2)a clot/deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can cause these symptoms.
(3)Cellulitis is infection of underlying tissues of the leg

These are the more common reasons. A clot or cellulitis would require treatment.

Antibiotics would be required for infection and anti clotting medication for the clots.

If there is no history of trauma, then it is best to be assessed to see if a clot or infection is present.

There are other causes of swelling but these usually affect both limbs eg heart failure, liver failure, kidney failure, side effect of medication

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
