Posted on Wed, 9 Nov 2016
Question: Hi.
Ive got throat inflamation and the doctor says there are two types. On from virus and one from bacteria
Mine She says is virus.
Still. I have no cold symptoms or influensa symptoms. And the pain is just one sided. Swallowing Even Spit is painful and the glands on outside of neck is sore
Painful is also starting to go to tongue on same side, teeth sinuses and head.and a little fever that comes and goes . But still. No running nose or cold.
Now. I think this is bacteria but we took a swab test today that did not show anything.
What do you think? Can it be virus Even though just one side and no cold symptoms ?

Brief Answer:
yes can cause

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.
Hi, I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.
Bacterial infection can be identified based on clinical symptoms, and yes, virus can cause one side throat pain and no cold symptoms.
I would advice you:
1. To do warm saline gargles thrice daily
2. To take anti allergic like Levocetrizine once daily.
3. To take throat lozenzes.
If this doesn't improve in next 2-3 days, ask your doctor for antibiotics like Amoxycillin.
This is my personal opinion based on details available here. If you still have any other query, you may please ask me.
Stay Healthy.

Thank you doctor.

So you think this is not bacterial infection/inflamation?

The only thing my doctor said, was that if I only listened to you- I would think it could be bacterial and give you antibiotics. But the test scrub did not show anything streptokok.
I am in severe pain when swallowing, but no other symptoms other than fever that comes and goes, and as I said some pain in head, jaw and the lymphs outside the throat is also very very sore.

Brief Answer:
No infection.

Detailed Answer:
If your Strept scrub test is negative then it is viral only. No infection is there.
Yes, inflammation could be there which can result from Viral sore throat too.

I would recommend you the same.
No antibiotics are required.

Good Luck.
