What causes swelling in the pelvic area?

Posted on Fri, 28 Jul 2017 in Lump
Question: I have a bulge/swelling in my pelvic area. The swelling is larger on the left side than the right side. Just noticed it this morning. There is no pain. A soft, spongy lump about half the size of a golf ball and protruding about 1/4" inch on the left side and about 1/8" on the right side. No trouble urinating.

Brief Answer:
possible hernia

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
There are few possible causes.
If this bulge increases with cough or after exercise then this is likely to be hernia and in this cases you should see surgeon for further evaluation. If this is of same size always and soft on palpation then this may be soft tissue lesions such as lipoma.
In every case, it would be good to do ultrasound or MRI scan for more accurate evaluation.
If pain redness, or pus secretion occur then you need urgent care since it may indicate inflammation and abscess formation.
Wish you good health. Regards

I noticed that when I cough, the lumps firm up.
