Posted on Sat, 13 May 2017
Question: Hi Doctor,
We are in XXXXXXX XXXXXXX and my daughter is 2 1/2 year old. While playing in the park, looks like something bit her left leg (near calf muscle), not sure if it is a mosquito bite. but her leg is swollen slightly (small lump formed, not very hard though). She does not have any pain and normal currently. Is this something that we need to worry?

Brief Answer:
No need to worry, observe the lesion

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for asking on this platform

The swelling can be due to mosquito or other insect bite.
Most of the time this type of lesions remain localised and subsides over a period of time may be two to three days.Very uncommonly the lesion may increase in size, may get infected or three may signs of systemic anaphylaxis(symptoms of severe allergy) like sweating, breathlessness, palpitation, raised temperature etc.
I won't get worried as the swelling is small, not itchy and there is no systemic symptom of anaphylaxis.
I would request you to observe the lesion closely and if get increases in size rapidly, any change in the color of swelling(getting bluish) or any other abnormality consult your pediatrician immediately.

I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any more queries.
Regards
