What Causes Swelling After Removing Anal Skin Tag?

default
Posted on Mon, 30 Mar 2015
Question: I had an anal skin tag removed (in office procedure) 7 days ago. It appears to be swollen worse than the original tag. Will they got away? I hardly have any pain, just tenderness to the touch, which I would expect. Is it possible the removal caused another tag or is this just normal post surgical swelling?

Brief Answer:
Swelling likely to be due to inflammation

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day,

Dear Ms

Removal of skin tag is sometimes associated with intense inflammation leading on to swelling. As you mentioned you have only tenderness and there is no pain, it implies the inflammation is mild abd should subside.

I would suggest you the followoing which will help relieve the tenderness and inflammation

1. Hot Seitz bath: To a tub of lukewarm water add 2 spoon of antiseptic solution. Sit in it for 15- 20 minutes each session twice a day. it will help relieve inflammation

2. Anti-inflammatory drug like Ibuprofen will be helpful

3. Local application of antibiotic/steroid ointment will be helpful

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.
