What Causes Sulphur Burps?

default
Posted on Wed, 22 Apr 2015
Question: I had sulphuric burps yesterday and now today I was fine in the morning and after eating sprouted grains flax toast for breakfast. My stomach started feeling uncomfortable around lunch so I ate pasta thinking I was hungry but now I feel like my stomach is a bit bloated not sure if it is actually, and it I feel very uncomfortable in the upper right and left quadrants. It borders on cramping or tightness you feel when you have stomach flu pains. My stool us somewhat softer than usual but considering the amount of fruits and vegetables I eat I'd expect it to be much like it is... Please help?

Brief Answer:
Probiotic and prilosec...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand you had / have foul smelling burps. It's associated with uncomfortable crampy aches in the upper abdominal area. The noted symptoms developed acutely since the last two days.

Now, the above descriptions fits into gastrointestinal infection. As the cramps are not severe and your stools are still semi-loose, I wouldn't start active infection treatment right away. I will begin with probiotic and a proton pump inhibitor drug such as prilosec OTC. Both these are available over the counter at any nearest pharmacy / chemist stores. Besides medication, it would be better to include plenty of yogurts, less spicy food and lots of fluids. In most cases, body has abilities to fight against mild infection such as above. So don't be worried.

However it would be better to avoid anything that precipitates this symptom for a few days.

Hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Regards
