Question: My left trapezius muscle has been over worked moving to our new home and gets tight by the end of the day, but is okay by morning. Suddenly I'm getting sharp pain in the 7th cervical area when I move my arms just right, typically reaching out. I concerned I have torn something and should stop lifting, which I can not easily do because of the need to vacate our now sold home.

Brief Answer:
Take rest and medication as advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

You may have pulled periscapular and shoulder muscles or cervical radiculopathy.
It is best to avoid any heavy objects lifting.

Pain killers with muscle relaxant like Etoricoxib or Aceclofenac with Thiocholchicoside or Tizanidine can be taken (you'll be needing appropriate prescription for them from your local physician).
Topical/local pain reliever ointments can be used too.

Get a neurologist visit if symptoms persists for more than a week or two.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

How long before I can lift heavy objects again and how weight do you consider heavy?I looked up pulled periscapular and shoulder muscles or cervical radiculopathy as you suggested and feel the symptoms are not consistent with that area. There is no shoulder pain, no pain from cervical to shoulder, no pain turning my neck.
I think it may be a muscle lower, possibly the Rhomboideus major. That area is easily agrevated when I lift and gets to where it has mild to moderate pain. A nights rest and it is fine until I start lifting again. Now I get these sharp pains in my cervical area, however it does not feel like skeletal, but rather muscle. The pain is a quick intense jab and then the Romboideus area gets painful as if I have been lifting all day. I have got these sharp pains when reaching out with an object in my hand, but also when bushing up with my left arm when getting our of bed or a chair.

Brief Answer:
Take rest and medications as advised, consult doctor if needed

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Yes, periscapular muscle may be involved in the exaggerated manual work.
Take rest for 2-3 days, pain killers with muscle relaxants as advised previously will be helpful.
No need to worry.
