What Causes Sudden Chest Pain After Lifting A Heavy Object?

default
Posted on Tue, 13 Jun 2017
Question: Hello Doctor

I am 34 years male. Last week i lifted a heavy object and acquired pain in my chest (both left and right). The location of the pain is below the neck and near the hand joints. Since it was related to chest, i was asked to take echo, but the results were completely normal. Now i doubt that this may be due to muscle sprain or tear.

Can u kindly advise me. I get pain when i lift weight or walk.

Please help!

Brief Answer:
Muscle strain

Detailed Answer:
Hi there

Thanks for the query

Usually sudden pain in the chest or abdominal area which comes like a 'catch' is Iditarod muscular pain such can be a muscular strain.

Apply ice to the affected region. Avoid bending forwards or lifting weights. Take Tablet Ibuprofen 400mg twice a day for 5 days.

You should be fine in 7 to 10 days if you follow the said precautions.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
