Brief Answer: stye Detailed Answer: Hello. Thank you for your question. The symptoms you describe, in the absence if injury are typically due to a stye. A stye is a mild infection of the eyelash that causes this type of inner eyelid swelling. It is common. The treatment is warm compresses to the affected eye. However, if you notice any redness to the white of the eye itself, war if you note any discharge emanating from the eye, I recommend you consult with your doctor. in this case, your doctor may choose to treat the eye with an antibiotic ointment war with antibiotic drops. This is not considered an emergency. It is contagious. Make sure that you, and everyone else coming in contact with your child, are washing their hands. Wish you good health. Regards,
