What Causes Stomach Pain, Fever And Borderline SGOT And SGPT Levels?
Question: Sir,
as discussed just now...i am suffering with stomach pain from last two days and presently fever is 101. stomach little hard. Stool is clear but little hard. Pain is below ribs and upper abdomen/ navel.
I am taking medicine for diabetic, hypertension and cholesterol. One month back HBA1C -6.7, and SGOT and SGPT was on border line.
Medicine taken from last two days
pantacide DSR and meftall plus.
Dr suggested me- Drotin DS and calpol

Noted your concern.
Your symptoms may be due to-
1) Viral infection like dengue and other. Or
2) Primary abdominal pathology like related to stomach (gastritis), liver (Hepatitis) or Gall bladder (Cholecystitis or stone) or intestine (enteritis or colitis).
Borderline SGOT & SGOT are may be a part of your insulin resistance (diabetes), some medicines or may be due to viral infection or primarily related to liver or gall bladder pathology.
Drotin DS is antispasmodic which is given for colicy pain and Calpol is paracetamol for fever.
There is a need for detailed physical examination and history taking.
Depending upon it there may be need for following investigations-
- Blood sugar level.
- complete Blood Count.
- Urea, creatinine, electrolytes.
- Urine examination.
- Ultrasound of abdomen and pelvis.
Depending upon detailed clinical examination and above test results further management can be planned.
