default
Posted on Wed, 7 May 2014
Question: i suffered from an ulcer many years ago, now i went on low carb diet lost 21lbs in 4 weeks and have serious stomach pains, burns like ulcer , worse after food or drink. its upper center , better if lying on side. Not debilitating i can work but it does hurt. i have read a lot about the pancrease and am concerned because it seems to fit. But until i can get the nerve up and the time to see a doc, what can i do for the pain, is there anything besides green tea and reducing food intake.

Brief Answer: Ranitidine and antacid gel Detailed Answer: Hi. Kudos to your efforts to loose so much weight in such a short span of time. But it has instigated the high acidity symptoms you have explained. Pancreas do not cause such symptoms, so do not worry about it and ultrasonography will rule out this. Yes, you definitely need an Upper GI Endoscopy. But as you say : Until you can meet a Doctor I can suggest few thing: Ranitidine 150 twice daily Antacid gel 3 to 5 teaspoonful at 3 hourly interval Soft Bland diet, no oily and spicy food.; no late nights and have a stress-free life. Al these measures should help you well. Please mention this to the Doctor when you meet Him / Her.
