Brief Answer:
Such symptoms may indicate some obstacle in the intestines.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Such symptoms can be caused by several issues. It may be chronic bacterial infection of intestines, gastro-esophageal reflux disease or even partial bowels obstruction due to colon cancer. As you can see some of possible reasons are not very serious and some are quite serious.
As you are over the age of 50, and the risk of colon cancer significantly over 50, this condition should be ruled out at first.
Please note that described by you symptoms can be present when the food can not freely pass through digestive tract due to some narrowing. Such narrowing can be caused by adhesions (possible if you have had any abdominal surgeries before) or even a cancer inside the intestine.
Very similar symptoms can be also present when some bacteria in the intestines produce too much gas.

I suggest you to consult your doctor and have some tests done. Abdominal ultrasound, blood work, stool tests should be done at first. Colonoscopy should be scheduled.
Without this tests it will be hard to diagnose your problem.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
