What Causes Stomach Cramps While On Birth Control Pills?

default
Posted on Mon, 30 Jun 2014
Question: After being on birth control for 6 years, I stopped for a week in which during that time, I had sex. That was about 2 weeks ago. Since then, I've had cramping like period cramps. And then today, when I wiped from using the bathroom, there was this brown, stretchy, rubbery thing on the toilet paper. No blood that I saw. What could the cause of this be?

Monitor and obtain more information if any!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about what you just reported and all the disturbing thoughts that this must have caused you. I am certainfor sure this is not related to pregnancy.

The discontinuation of your contraceptive pills must have been like XXXXXXX in a way to the body. My thinking is that the body is trying to find its balance as it has been controlled for 6years by pills and not the intrinsic pathways. It is not uncommon for clients to report spotting, cramping, absent or delayed menses, etc after they discontinue contraception. This usually gets resolved with time and needs no medical intervention.

For now, I will recommend that you monitor to see if you would notice any further concerning symptoms of persistence in months to come. This is a transition fro pills to no pills and all would return to normal within 2-3cycles.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and please feel free to ask for more information and clarifications should need be.
