Question: My stomach sometimes is bloated even though im not menstrating (I have extremely irregular periods btw). It then takes a few days, sometimes a week for me to slowly get the gas out. Then not too many days later, it is visibly bloated again. Should i be worried about this?

Brief Answer:
Hi

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

If you are having this on a frequent basis then you need to get it checked.

Mostly it occurs due to irritable bowel syndrome.

In this you have such symptoms over long term.

Do not worry as its a very mild disease and goes away on taking antacids and regular exercise and healthy high fibre diet .

But before this we need to rule out anything serious so i will advise you to get a sonography of abdomen and pelvis. Also get a Ct scan with contrast of abdomen.

I do not think it has got anything to do with your periods.

Do let me know the reports .

Regards,

Dr Som

Looks like a case of "Irritable Bowel Syndrome"

Detailed Answer:
It does not look like it has anything to do with your cycle.

Looks like a case of "Irritable Bowel Syndrome". It is a disease where you get abdominal bloating and gas. It is relieved by antacids.
