What Causes Stinky Flatulence After Doing Exercise?

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Feb 2015
Question: My mom likes to workout on her spin bike from time to time in tight spandex bike shorts. I was right beside her one time while she was on the bike and she passed some awful smelly gas right in my face as I was putting the tv clicker down. It was really deadly and I was surprised it smelled so bad. i had to leave the room. Is this because farts tend to smell worse when working out?

Brief Answer:
NOt quite!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.

Farts really depend on what we eat and how much fermentation and bacteria action goes on. It is not related to her exercise. Whether it smells bad or not is of no pathological significance. You are also not at any risk from that beyond the inconveniences you suffered.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
