If there is no lump, swelling or discharge there is nothing to worry about.
Then there may not be any specific reason for the stinging pain in the nipple area. The probable cause can be some local nerve excitation for which there may not be any specific reason.
I would advise you to have wait and watch policy; see for any discoloration of skin or any other changes.
If the problem persists then obviously to consult your Doctor/Surgeon for actual examination of the affected area.
