What Causes Stabbing Pain In The Knee While Having Osteoarthritis?

Question: Acute sever stabbing pain n knee just below the patella in the mid line area, pain relieved by walking, when stop comes back, also , moving knee in a swinging-like motion. Applied ice w/ poor success. Have Rx for Percocet for pain under 1 MD , who has cared for me for over 10 years for osteoarthritis w/ soft tissue pain. Medicated relief, pain returns on scale 0-10 #10, relief for short period of time 15-20"

You could be having patellofemoral arthritis with possible strain of patellar tendon.

Try to avoid squatting, cross leg sitting, climbing stairs, kneeling. Perform quadriceps strengthening exercises and physiotherapy for knee ROM. Wearing a hinged knee brace will help.

You can apply Buprenorphine patch after consulting your pain management specialist. This will help better with the pain.
