What Causes Spotting, Clumpy White Discharge, Abdominal Cramps And Nausea?

Question: I am 20 years old and think I am 6 weeks pregnant and worked out for 2 hours today. I have had no symptoms of pregnancy at all besides missed period. I drank heavily before I knew I was pregnant and have generally poor diet. I have spotted twice in 3 weeks and the color was brown and pretty dark the second time. Discharge has been very clumpy and white and small in amount for at least a week. Then today, I felt a little light headed at times and had some cramps so I roughly massaged my lower abs and pelvis area, then I felt nauseous and had mild cramps when I suddenly felt a warm gush and thought it was blood. I checked to find completely clear, what looked like water with a few very small scattered pieces of white/grey chunks. When I wiped, small brownish/grey traces were there. The discharge soaked my underwear and my some of my leggings too. There was no blood. Also, afterward I passed large white chunks the size of my pinky nail that look like tissue. I still feel a tightness in my lower abdomen. Should I expect bleeding and cramping? Was this a miscarriage?

Brief Answer:
Most probably you aborted.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

welcome to HCM,

I can understand your concerns,

I have gone through your history.

passing of water along with chunks indicate that most probably you aborted.it was products of conception which have expelled out.

complete abortion process takes 2weeks.In this period you may have bleeding and cramping too.

consult your gynecologist for confirmation.

And get ultrasound after 2weeks to confirm complete abortion.

Hope this helps.

Feel free to ask further.

Thanks

What does it mean if I don't have bleeding and cramps? Could I have possibly not been pregnant from the get go? I haven't taken a pregnancy test yet. I just knew I was pregnant for some reason.

Brief Answer:
probable abortion.

Detailed Answer:
As you told your experience about passing pieces, water and bleeding, this signifies that you might be pregnant.

Abortion process usually starts with bleeding and cramps followed by passing products of conception for 1-2days then light/heavy bleeding for about 10-12days.
So, there is possibility you will experience bleeding.

In absence of bleeding or cramps, therenare chances of incomplete abortion.

I advise that you should go for ultrasound to confirm abortion.
Consult your gynecologist for further management.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

In how many days should a home pregnancy test read negative? How heavy should this bleeding be and when should I expect it to start?

Brief Answer:
ultrasound recommended.

Detailed Answer:
Home pregnancy tests becomes negative 3-4 weeks after abortion.

Usually when the products of conception are expelled, there is heavy bleeding.

You have not had bleeding till now but had watery discharge with white grey chunks.

I would thus advise you to go for abdominal ultrasound to confirm the status of abortion.

Hope this helps.
Take care.
Thanks
