What Causes Soreness In Stomach And Pain In Muscles, Neck While On IUD?

default
Posted on Sat, 19 Mar 2016
Question: I have an I u d inserted . Have had it going on two years now . Had my pap smear and it was normal this year. However I have been having soreness in my stomach. When i lay on my stomach I hurt in my muscles and neck also. I read where I u d could cause this. It is painful sometimes after sex. My I u d was in place during my exam. But I'm still hurting. I have not had any children. Should I go to my gynecologist again?

Brief Answer:
Seems like peri menopausal transition

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
I understand your health concerns.
It is a common complaint in new IUD users to have muscle weakness and even tenderness on deep pressure on belly.
All these symptoms are seen in patients who have excess bleeding or discharge after IUD insertion.
In case you have any of these complaints then kindly let me know so that I can advise you accordingly.
But in case you don't have them then this muscle soreness is because of peri menopausal transition which is associated with the falling hormone levels and thus causing these symptoms and hence is managed differently.
So kindly let me know if you have excessive bleeding during periods or foul smelling discharge from vagina.
Waiting for your response.
Regards

Brief Answer:
Precautions advised

Detailed Answer:
Then these are not related to IUD and just due to the peri menopausal transition.
Take care of the following points -
- drink a lot of water
- avoid hot and humid climate
- avoid excess of tea or coffee
- take good amount of non veg food in case you prefer non veg
- take almonds and walnuts daily
- consume good amount of milk and soya products.
The stomach ache can be due to acidity so avoid spicy and fried food as much as possible.
In case still not relieved then visit a gynaecologist and ask for hormone replacement therapy after proper evaluation.
All the best
