What Causes Soreness In Right Testicle And Intermittent Pain That Radiates To Waist?

default
Posted on Sat, 5 Mar 2016
Question: Hi. I am a 40 year old male. My right testicle is sore and I have some intermittent pain up into my waist area. The pain reminds me when I was younger and so called "racked myself". It doesn't hurt to urinate or ejaculate. I have no signs of visual swelling or discoloration. Thoughts ?

Brief Answer:
several possibilities

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
There are several possible things that could be going on.
You could be developing a hernia. This can sometimes cause some radiation of pain up into the waist area.
You may also have some inflammation of the epididymus or vas deferens. This can occur spontaneously or can be caused by infection and does not always show up with pain on urination.
It may also be prostatitis but if you had that you would more than likely notice a decrease in the urine flow stream.
If the pain becomes acutely severe than go to emergency because that could be a sign of torsion of the testicle and can be very dangerous.
It is best to see a doctor or urologist if the pain does not resolve in a few days to a week.
I hope this resolves soon,
Dr. Robinson
