What Causes Soreness In Esophagus?

default
Posted on Thu, 19 Nov 2015
Question: Hi. so my concern is I had some dental work done two weeks ago. the next day this lady ended up kissing me and licking my lips. that episode lasted maybe two to three minutes. I did not notice any lesions on her mouth.

the issue I have is that two to three days later I felt my mouth lips and tongue burning. it was more irritating than painful. that was going on and off and sometimes went away after brushing.and rinsing with anticeptic. don't really notice any lesions in my mouth either.. just one white dot on my tongue

today, my throat was sore and tender around the esophagus and voicebox. it is sore, but not painfully sore. they took a swab for strep, bit that came back negative. I do have phlegm coming out. also had light temperature and some body aches. should I be concerned?

Brief Answer:
Unikely to be an STI, more likely to be a mild URTI. No cause for concern.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. The symptoms are likely to be due to the dental work and a mild Upper Respiratory Tract Infection ((URTI), mostly viral.

2. This is unlikely to be an STI.

3. Get your oral cavity and throat examined and symptomatic medication should be started. Inform your dentist and local doctor.

4. If you feel better after 48-72 hours, no further tests are necessary.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

doctor thinks it might be viral pharyngitis. he did out me in antibiotics. he did a swab for strep and another swab which I will know the results for in 24 to 48 hours. I was feeling better but now feel the throat is hurting more. it's on and off.
