What Causes Sore Throat, Fever, Tonsils And Ulcers With White Patches In Mouth?
Question: Hi doc
Painful sore throat
fever a few days ago
then tonsils flared up
Then pain
Now ulcers and sore white patches ans spots
I've been taking Augmentin antibiotic but not working
Told after swap is rhinovirus
Bo more fever
Just pain
Taking panadol and nurofen consecutivley every 4 hours day / night - 3 days in
Not improving

I am sorry to see that you are having so much throat pain despite treatment with augmentin. Your labs did show that you have Rhinovirus and unfortunately there is absolutely no treatment for this virus. Your body has to heal itself. The swollen tonsils with white patches and ulcers are because of the virus. The best thing you can do at this point is salt water gargles and continue with your pain medications. No medications in the world is going to heal you. Your own body has to fight this infection.

The ulcers have progressed in my mouth

Top of mouth abs behind both sides of rear toungue area (cant see other side)
Been told need to rest wich have started doing
Nearly finished augmeten and using aspalgin to gargle for pain - so definatley just a wait it out thing?

Unfortunately there is nothing else that can be done with the a viral illness. You might try using a mouth wash. I recommend making a slurry of maalox and benadryl syrup. 1/2 and 1/2. Gargle and spit out every 1-2 hours. The benadryl will help numb your throat and the maalox will coat the ulcers and allow for healing
