Brief Answer:
infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
White spots are usually pus. Pus is a collection of white blood cells that travel to an area of infection to help fight off that infection. This can be either viral or bacterial. Bacterial throat infections are usually strep. Signs that it is strep and not viral are
1) having a high fever, 2) not having a cough, 3) having a severe sore throat and 4) having pus in the back of the throat (this includes the uvula).
If you have several of the signs of strep you may want to get a strep test done at your doctor's office, it not you can probably just drink plenty of fluids and use ibuprofen or tylenol for pain. If it is viral it should resolve without treatment.
I hope you feel better soon,

Brief Answer:
looks viral

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the photo. This looks like you may be getting a viral infection. Just push fluids, rest and take something for the sore throat. It should resolve on its own in a few days. If it gets worse or if you develop a high fever, then see a doctor.

Brief Answer:
does not look like herpes

Detailed Answer:
Herpes is usually blisters and is very painful. If you have severe pain and blisters then you should see a doctor for a herpes test. You need intact blisters to get a good herpes culture. In any case if the pain is severe, then you should see a doctor
