What Causes Sore Throat And Difficulty While Swallowing?

Question: suddenly had a sore throat, noticeable when swallowing. feels like on left side of throat only. no fever, cold sympyoms, or other discomfort.

Symptoms began last night. Have taken ibuprofen. Stopped tobacco use 25 years ago. No swelling.
