What Causes Sore Nipples After Swimming?

default
Posted on Tue, 29 Aug 2017
Question: I went swimming yesterday in a pool, and this morning I woke up with sore nipples, and it's sore around the nipple area on the breasts. I also had white flakey skin on the nipples that I had to peel off. Is it a reaction to chlorine?

Brief Answer:
Most probably yes.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Yes, this may be a reaction to chlorine or any chemical that is added to the water for sanitization.
Soreness of and around nipple with flaky skin on the nipples that had to peel off in an young female of 21 with history of swimming in a pool indicates that same.

I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Wash off the area with plenty of plain water.
Take an antihistamine.
Consult your Doctor or a Dermatologist to get a prescription based medication if required.

I hope this answers your query.
