What Causes Small Red Spots On Ankle Along With Malaise?

default
Posted on Wed, 19 Aug 2015
Question: My husband has two small red spots on his ankle that look like mosquito bites. There is a faint red streak going up his leg from the vicinity of the bites, and he feels pain associated with that line, as if a nerve is inflammed there. He feels malaise and little feverish although it's not clear if the malaise and fever are associated with these particular bites. He thinks so but of course it's impossible to tell. We're not sure whether to seek treatment.

Hi,

Welcome to Health Care Magic.

I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad, I have read your question in detail, I understand your concern and will try to help you in the best possible way.

if this malaise started AFTER the bites then he should takw a tablet of citerizine 10mg and Brufen 400 mg right now and then continue citerizine 10mg daoly at night for three days.

and brufen twice a day for three days.
Yes that streak can be an inflammaed vein on which the bite would have been and in some people bite can cause allergy.

Icing of the area will help to reduce the inflammation as well.
I hope you are sure that those two bite marks are not fangs some times rarely though ... fangs can be mistaken by two bite marks... if your are sure that he didnt go outdoors or in bushes or it cant be a snake then just follow my suggestions ..he should start feeling fine in 4...5 hours after taking the meds .

Regards.

Dear Dr. XXXXXXX this is helfpul. It seems likely that the malaise started after the bites but he is not entirely sure of the sequence of events. The two bite marks could not be a snake bite. We'll treat it as an allergy with Zyrtec and Brufen for now, and if it doesn't improve we may come back with another question. Thank you.
