What Causes Small Cluster Of White Blisters On Buttock?

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Jun 2014
Question: I woke up and noticed I had a small cluster of white/clear looking blisters on top of a red rash at the top of my buttcrack. I haven't been sexually active for 5 months and have never experienced any type of symptoms like this other than cold sores at the corners of my lips I'd get every so often due to stress (it's been a lonnng time since I have). I started getting those when I was young... my mom had them and I would share chapstick/drinks.

I'm freaking out and trying not to. Could it be something other than herpes? The photos look like what I have...but so do the photos of shingles.

Brief Answer:
Herpes Simplex type1/2 IgG/IgM serum test advocatd

Detailed Answer:
Hi there XXXXXXX
I hear you but cant say I disagree. From your history & current clinical description, it appears more like a herpes simplex eruption as opposed to a herpes zoster (shingles).
Your statement reads: 'the photos "look" like what I have'. Do I infer then that this attachment is not the 'actual' lesion?
Either way, for a conclusive opinion & for your mental peace, there appears only one option: Please do a Serum/Blood test for Herpes Simplex 1& 2 ...but please do a IgG & IgM serum test for herpes that will give you both a 'titre' value & tell you clearly if you have the virus in your blood & if it is of 'recent' origin or an 'old' infection & how much of it is in your blood.
As for the treatment, please apply locally a cream containing 5% Acyclovir (Zovirax is one trade name) 3-5 times daily on the lesion & it will surely clear up.
I trust I have given you a prompt precise answer & a clear action plan going forward.
Rest easy..no need to freak out...we shall overcome. All the Lebanese I have known (spent a decade in Abu-Dhabi) have always been up there where their skin care is concerned & am sure you will be back to sporting a flawless skin soon.
