What Causes Small Black Bumps With Itchiness In The Groin Area?

default
Posted on Thu, 23 Jul 2015
Question: Hi, So I have groin itchiness and small black bumps. I thought they were black heads when they first started to appear but then came itchiness. I think I have jock itch and have been treating it as such and it seems to be getting better; however I have a new one that is at the tip of my penis next to the urethra which causes pain and discomfort. what should I do? Is this a case of jock itch?

Brief Answer:
Tinea cruris most probably

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HCM...

After going through history you provided, I could conclude that most probably you may be having a fungal infection in groin areas, called tinea cruris.

I can understand your worries for a lesion on glans penis, which is painful. Before I give you advice, I would like to have photos of affected parts,so kindly upload the photos of groin and genital areas. And please answer following questions...

- duration of the disease?
- do you get itching,pain,burning?
- describe the groin lesions...reddish,blackish,scaly,crusted,patches,papular,oozing...
- describe penile lesion you have...pus containing,clear liquid containing,erosed..
- lesions else where?
- history of any other skin or systemic disease?
- past history of any disease?
- family history of any disease?
- history of any drugs you take?
- occupation?

Kindly answer above queries and post the photos of affected parts..

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Tinea cruris most probably

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome back...

Thanks for answering, but you did not uploaded the photos. Anyways, I deeply feel that most probably you seem to have fungal infection called tinea cruris in groin areas, inner thighs with secondary bacterial infection on penile and scrotal skin.

I would suggest as follow...

- antihistaminics like levocetirizine
- antifungal like ketoconazole tab twice a day for two weeks
- short course of antibiotics like cefixime 200 mg twice a day for one week
- to apply antifungal cream like clotrimazole on groin lesions and antibiotic cream like fusidic acid cream on infected lesions
- Sitz bath..have Sitz bath in a tub containing water mixed with few drops of dettol liq. daily. Avoid soap bath.
- keep the area dry.

I think this would be helpful in managing your problem.. Please consult dermatologist before taking treatment.

Still..any query, feel free to ask...

Thanks.
