What Causes Slight Nausea, Cough And Body Tremors?

default
Posted on Fri, 21 Aug 2015
Question: For 3 weeks I have been slightly nauseous and a little bit shaky here and there. I have a small cough several times a day for no apparent reason. I never smoked, but was married for 21 years to a heavy smoker. I am becoming concerned.
Thank you for your input.

Brief Answer:
Actually, quite a lot of really bad things

Detailed Answer:
can start this way, BUT if there is no increasing symptoms a visit to an Internist is going to be more detailed and comprehensive and accurate than to an emergency room.
Low grade infections often begin this way and can go to be very bad.

Pneumonia and bladder infections being by far the most common.

Development of diabetes or other metabolic condition would also do the shaking.. not so much the cough but does predispose to worse infections and to have less usual symptoms of infection (no fever for example).

Development of heart trouble/ heart failure... would generally be other signs (like feet swelling). If heart attack 3 weeks ago... this is not a great time for surgery.. but over the acute risk, for example.

Basically, a cursory exam .. 2 min of questions in person would find what is going on. Simple nickle and dime tests same day would confirm and treatment could be started immediately. Unlikely to be imminent danger... even with the development of heart disease, the deaths are either immediate or with decompensation over days/weeks.
