What Causes Skinny Arms?

default
Posted on Tue, 15 Jul 2014
Question: I have been noticing that my arms seem like there getting Skinner. I looked behind my arm by my elbow and it seems the joint is pushed/flatted in a little more than usual. I work out every now and then, so my arms shouldn't be that skinny. There not that skinny, but Skinner than they were. I'm also taking antibiotic because I came from a dermatologist saying I have Inflamed Hair Follicles. Will alcohol make you get Skinner? I drink every now and then. What do you think this could be? When I go back, should I ask my dermatologist? I called my dermatologist and they said antibiotics don't make skinny arms.

I've tried lifting a little more.

Brief answer....rule out medical conditions if you are loosing weight also.
Detailed answer.....
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
If you loosing your weight constantly along with arms getting skinnier, then it may some medical condition like diabetes or hyperthyroidism etc,but if you are not loosing weight and medically fit, then it could be because of not a proper nutrition or may be heavy alcoholism or simple genetic make up.
For building your arms and body ,do the following ...
Quit alcohol for some time.
Start taking proper nutrition by taking lean meats, legumes, nuts, fish, egg whites etc.
Take foods containing B and C vitamins.
Take more of fresh fruits and green vegetables.
Take proper sleep of 7-8 hours.
Take dietary weight gain supplements available at various sports nutrition stores.
Start doing regular exercises with arm muscle training and you can take the help of a professional in a gym.
There is no reason why you can not be fit.
If you are dedicated, disciplined and regular, you would definitely find yourself in good muscular frame.
I hope it helps, however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks

Thank you for the advise. I went to see as doctor and she said you just have skinny arms. The thing is, is that I work out and my arms may have lost a little. Is it possible to lose muscle mass a little in arms, if you don't constantly work it. Sometimes I'll just weight bench and not do curls. But I do agree, a good nutrition would probably help. I do eat a lot of Greek yogurt. I heard protein is suppose to help with your muscles. My upper body got a little bigger, but my arms, not as much. That's why I was asking if there is something that good make your arms lose muscle tone or growth. I eat a lot of chicken, hamburgers, sausage and for veg. I eat broccoli. You think I should go back to my protein shakes, maybe that will help? Also I've was notified 2 weeks ago I had Inflamed Hair Follicles. Would that do something.? I have been taking antibiotics for 2 weeks and it's somewhat getting better, but not totally. I still get the redness and the bumps (Not as much). My Dermatologist said it could take 3 weeks to actually start working. I was wondering if this was true, because it seems like that's a long time to start working? I'm not even sure how I got it. She said anybody can get it. Could it be I'm allergic to something, because this didn't happen during the fall, winter season.
Will working out make the inflamed Hair Follicles worse?

Hello,
I will answer your queries one by one.
1... If you don't do workouts regularly, you loose more of muscle tone rather than muscle mass. One doesn't loose muscle mass in short run.If you don't workouts for many months at a stretch, then you would loose muscle mass also in addition to the tone.
2...Protein shakes are definitely good and should be taken if you are doing regular workouts.
3... As far as working out with inflamed hair follicles are concerned,it should not make the things worse. It totally depends upon you.If you are feeling uncomfortable doing exercises, then you should avoid them.
In my opinion you can do workouts now as you have been taking antibiotics for two weeks and feel quite better.
You should see that your folliculitis parts are not rubbing with each other and not causing any friction amongst them.
Thanks
