Brief Answer:
hi and welcome

Detailed Answer:
In most cases this is neuromuscular pain due to conditions such as fibromyalgia, thoracic outlet syndrome or rheumatoid diseases. In these cases standard painkillers should be enough .if not, then you may need steroid therapy or some stronger anti-inflammatory drugs. Second possible cause is angina pectoris which can go with such symptonatology. So it would be wise to check your heart function. Wish you good health . Regards

I was diagnosed with RA about 15 years ago, but to date, I don't take medications as the ones I was taking made me feel slugish. I have had xrays about once a year and have noted no changes.

Angina Perctoris sounds unlikely. I dont' have any problems with chest, neck or shoulder.

Can Thoracic Outlet Syndrome find itself as a sudden or gradual onset? if there is no reason up to now that may have caused that, could there now be one?

Is Fibromyalgia, usually as a result of the RA?

Brief Answer:
hi

Detailed Answer:
Fibrmialgia can be related to RA and this may be exacerbation pf RA and its symptoms. You should check your rheumatoid factor and other autoimmune tests.
Thoracic outlet syndrome can occur at any period of life and can be caused by various factors such as neck muscle injury, muscle hipertrophy, neck vein or artery compression, neck nerve compression due to tissue swelling or scoliosis. To rule this out you shoulod do CT scan or neck area. Till this, try to find painkiller that is efficient and have good physical therapy.
