What Causes Shooting Pain Under The Pacemaker?

default
Posted on Fri, 15 Apr 2016
Question: I was given a pacemaker about 1.5 years ago because at 72 years of age my pulse was 46 and I had just been told I had A Phib. For the first time since I had the pacemaker I have had a few shooting pains that
seem to be under the pacemaker. Is this a problem?

Brief Answer:
Need to have EKG and pace maker site review

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! First of all, it is sad to know what you had gone through. Based on the history you have shared, and keeping in mind the history of A fib and slow heart rates, it is preferable to get a fresh EKG and pulse examination to know the speed and synchrony of the heart beats and also get a review regarding adequate functioning of pace maker.

Local tenderness or shooting pains also need evaluation of the pace makers site insertion to rule out any pus or infection at the site. Meanwhile keep on using the drugs that you have mentioned until then. If pain increases in intensity then consider a medical facility referal at the earliest other wise get a routine cardiologist review. Keep a strict follow up from time to time with your primary. Wishing you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
