Question: hi I am 29yrs male, 5'5.5" height 71kg weight. to reduce weight I tried running . but whenever I run I feel pain in shin bone and if I run more sometime it pains so much that I am not able to walk after that.

Brief Answer: Gradually increase the physical activity Detailed Answer: Hi Thanks for your query Myself Dr. Chugh Orthopaedic surgeon After going through your query, the cause of your suffering is because your body is not prepared for (If am not incorrect) sudden increase in activity and the suffering begin once you have started running. I have seen many patient’s like you and others preparing for police and Para military forces. Our body suffers minor fracture (stress fracture) due to sudden increase in physical activity. For now my advice would be take a break from running for few days (7-10).Take ibuprofen to reduce pain and do ice fomentation. My advice for you would be- 1. Gradually increase the running length and speed preferably on weekly basis and to be followed by ice fomentation. 2. Take balanced diet rich in calcium (1000mg/day) and vitamin (1000 i.u. /day) along with vitaminB12, B6.Vitamin D is available in weekly dose pattern as well as injection, just talk to your local doctor.
