What Causes Sharp Pain In The Abdomen And Back?

Question: My brother is having sharp pains/spasms in his abdomen area. He says it comes and goes. both sides and front and back. Front he says around his lower rib area located towards his sides. and then same general area on his back. Not necessarily at the same time but comes and goes. Bad enough I could see tears in his eyes. I guess it has been going on for about month.

Thanks for query .
Based on the facts posted by you the pain in both the loins and back that your husband is getting is mostly due to presence of stone either in Kidney or Ureter .

Consult qualified Urologist for clinical examination and get following basic
tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis


In the meanwhile continue taking Tyelenol along with antibiotic like Norfloxaxcin twice daily .

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.like site and size of the stone and back pressure changes in kidney .
