Brief Answer:
Mild uncomplicated diverticulitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Madam,

I understand your query and concern.

You seem to have mild uncomplicated attack of diverticulitis.
This is not related to the intake of the food stuff you mentioned as well as the ovarian cyst concerned.

Its extremely important that you recognize such episodes and get treated effectively at the earliest to prevent complications like perforation.

Oral antibiotic therapy in the form of Tab Augmentin 625 mg twice a day along with tab pantoprazole 40 mg once a day for 5 days is the required medical therapy in your case.

Note these drugs have to be taken with strict medical prescription of your doctor.

Serial CT scan semiannually can help to document the progressive changes in the diverticula and plan the next stage of permanent surgical therapy if any.

I hope i have answered your query at the moment,
Post your further query if any.
Thankyou.

I am on two antibiotics and have been on this treatment since wednesday. I am wondering how long will the attics occur? The doctors office called today said I should come in and see the doctor! Ive been three days now. I will go but you all are saying the same thing. i took magnesium calm last night recommended by physician to help me make a bowl movement. maybe this upset my stomach. I also took tylenol pm and had a full stomach at bed.

Brief Answer:
Stop magnesium salt.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,Mam.

welcome again.

Its advisable to keep yourself off from magnesium salts since they can lead to occasional bowel upset.

These attacks can occur at intervals of 2-3 months usually.

Flagyl and Cipro are not wrong antibiotics, but i would like to say that augmentin 625 or moxifloxacin are more effective novel antibiotics used in diverticulitis.

In case of troubling constipation,i advise you to have Ispaghula husk 2 tsps in water at bedtime will provide excellent relief.Consult your doctor for this drug prescription.

Oral liquids are needed for 3-4 days post attack of diverticulitis.

You can have tylenol as usual and when needed.

Post your further queries,if any.
Thank you.
