What Causes Severe Rashes On The Face And Chest Area Of An Infant?

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Jun 2016
Question: My baby is 6.5 months old and since last one week she has developed very bad rashes on her face and chest mainly. I am attaching the snaps of the same. Also I am giving details about the other things.

We have shown her to paediatrician 3 days but still we could not see any improvement. The paediatrician suggested following
1. Atarax drops 10 drops 2 times a day
2. Change of oil from XXXXXXX Badam to Coconut
3. Change of soap from Mothercare baby wash to Tedibar
4. Change of lotion from Mothercare to Atogla

Since last 6 months we have been using Mothercare baby wash, Mothercare Lotion , Almond oil for massage but these rashes never appeared.

She is on formula and is taking Farex 1 since last 6 months.
Last since last one month we are giving her mashed dal rice khichdi.

Although the climate has become very hot now. From 30 to 35 degrees now the temperature at XXXXXXX where we stay is 42 degrees during afternoons. So could it be because of that because rest of the things are same . We also dont take her out very often

Pls suggest

Brief Answer:
Seems to be miliaria, go for calamine lotion

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have reviewed the attached photographs and it seems to be miliaria which is a form of heat rash.
In such cases I recommend my patients to apply soothing lotion like calamine lotion on the affected areas of the body twice daily for 7-10 days.
You can continue with atarax drops.
There was no need to change soap, oil and lotion.
Besides this make her wear loose cotton clothes and keep her in a cool airy environment.
I hope to have answered your query and would be happy to clarify any further doubts.
