What Causes Severe Pain Radiating To Chest And Arms ?
Question: Hi
The night before last my spine was painful for no reason - level 5 pain approx. I could feel the pain radiate into my arms and chest. I took 2 tylenal pm so I could sleep. The next am the symptoms had subsided but I was left with questions. Did I have a heart attack? Then I noticed 2 bites on my leg. Both identical - 2
"holes" ( eg . . but the size of a pencil point ) approx. 1/4 in . wide total. there was no itching or discomfort at the site. I went to bug bites online to identify but couldn't connect.
Any thoughts?

Yes. The chance cannot be ruled out for ischemic heart disease (IHD) as you presented with severe pain radiating to chest and arms and for the first time. But since recovered now I advice you to just rule out the IHD by doing ECG and exercise stress test. This will help in diagnosing current problem and can help in preventing any future heart problem.
The other cause may be gall stones and severe gastritis. Get done USG abdomen and pelvis . This will help in diagnosing any abdominal cause.
Maintain your weight, drink plenty of water, less carbohydrate and oil rich food and daily exercises will help you.
The bite may be mosquito or any insect. Even snake bite may present in same way you explained. SO since you don't have any other clinical features and this happened in home, no need to worry much. But need to be concerned with any change in features and need to get evaluated. So just wash it and keep a watch.
