What Causes Severe Pain In Right Side?

default
Posted on Mon, 30 Jun 2014
Question: I have severe pain on my right side that comes frequently; I can't move and hold the bulge until it finally goes back in place. My Dr. has felt it and sent me to a surgeon. He could not feel it, he said there was nothing he could do.
This has been going on for years and no previous Dr. was able to identify the issue and took no tests since when I was in their office the bulge would never come out.
The attacks ( I call them ) are coming more frequently. Yesterday I had three attacks. XXXXXXX XXXXXXX ( YYYY@YYYY )

Brief Answer:
See your doctor or surgeon while having an attack

Detailed Answer:
Hi. Thank you for your question. If the attacks last long enough, get in to your doctor, surgeon, or an emergency center during the attack. I am concerned about what this bulge is that only shows up during an attack. It may be a hernia, but the surgeon should have been able to identify that. Sometimes spasm of the intestinal tract and retained gas can cause pain and swelling that clears up after awhile. Do you have other associated symptoms, such as diarrhea, constipation, nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath, fever etc? Be sure to tell the doctor if you do. You might want to ask about getting a scan of your abdomen to see if a problem can be identified. Ask the doctor who did feel it what else it could be besides a hernia and about further testing. Hope this answers your query. If you have further questions, I would be happy to answer them.
