Brief Answer:
You need good pain medications!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this pain. I understand your plight and think you may require more potent pain medications than you may get online. At this time, taking into consideration your allergy to sulfas, I will recommend a combination of Ibuprofen and Tylenol as follows:

Ibuprofene: 600mg thrice daily
Tylenol: 1g 3-4times/day

If this fails to control the pains, then you will certainly need to go to the hospital for more potent pain medications.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Answered by Dr. Chobufo Ditah (14 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
These drugs will control pain but cannot clear the stone!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

These drugs will not clear the stone. if it is a big stone, you need surgery or a special procedure for this. If it is a small stone, drinking much water can help push is down and to the outside.

The next measure is to talk to a nephrologist. He needs to look into the details of why you are having stones. He should identify the predisposing factors like high calcium, high uric acid, etc and address it t o prevent recurrence.

These drugs should only be taken as long as you have pains. Follow up with the above recommendations to get the stone addressed fully.

I wish you well.

Brief Answer:
Nephrocalcinosis is no treated with antibiotics!

Detailed Answer:
HI,

I have reviewed your information again. Nephrocalcinosis is not treated with antibiotics. Also, with the calyces not dilated, it is very unlikely that you have a kidney stone. The sizes of these kidneys are normal and do not suggest that you have obstructed urine flow by a possible kidney stone. Like I mentioned before, these medications will help with the pain. Because you are in Nigeria and can buy all drugs over the counter without prescription, I will recommend that you consider adding Codeine or tramadol if the pain persists.

For the abnormally thickened gall bladder, that could be a concern. However, the gallbladder is on the right and not the left side. This is why am a little concerned that this is not the likely cause of your pain.

How is your urination? Any pains? Any blood? Do you urinate more often than usual?
and do you have any fever?

I hope to hear from you. For now, make sure you take the pain medications for relief while we figure out further options as you provide more details.

My is urine is yellow in colour, no blood and no pain too, but I urinate more often because I take plenty of water this days. I have fever. My urine culture analysis shows that I have E-COLI

Brief Answer:
Take ciprofloxacine!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Since you have E. coli in your urine, you need an antibiotic. I recommend ciprofloxacine. It is safe for persons with sulfa allergies. Take 500mg twice daily for a minimum of 10days.

I wish you well.

Renal colic is not a disease, it is a symptom!

Hi,

Renal colic means pain from the kidneys. What the cause dis is exactly what we nee dot identify and take care of. That is what we don’t have yet. Renal colic is managed with pain medications like Is suggested before and proper rehydration. There is no further specific drug that you require for this condition.

I wish you well and let me know how you are doing? Is the pain getting worse or better?

Brief Answer:
Your results are normal.....These medications are all safe!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have reviewed your medications. Non has anything to do with sulfonamides and you should feel safe taking them. However, the cause of this pain needs to be determined. Did you get the chance to see a nephrologist or a urologist?

Sorry about the pain. Without investigations, the actual cause is not known and we keep managing the pain rather than treating the real cause of the pain.

I wish you well.

Brief Answer:
Go ahead and take this drug!

The structures are similar but there is little cross reaction between these two classes of drugs. It is entirely safe to take them. In literatures, at most 4 cases of cross reaction have ever been raised.
